Video Games have been present in my life since childhood. When I was young I would play games and imagine my own designs and wish that I could make them a reality. Recently, I have been taking C++ classes. It quickly became clear that the day when I would be able to create the games I dreamed of was still a long way off, and even when I had the skills, creating complete games take a lot of time and the expertise of many talents. Rather than get discouraged I began to research game engines and found a pretty nifty one in Mark Overmars Gamemaker.

Game maker allows the rapid generation of 2D and 3D sprite games possible. I have a fondness for the 2D 8 and 16-bit games of my youth, and Game Maker was the perfect tool for creating these games.

I have now made it my objective to make games. I would like to do it professionally, and understand that it takes time to become an accomplished game. In the mean-time I have been working on a few games of my own. The first game I have created is a simple scrolling shooter "1883: Cowboys and Outlaws."

I have also included a design brief and prototype for a 2D platformer designed for the mobile phone platform. I created this written explaination and prototype as part of an application process and have since modified the original concept. I plan on developing this game for the PC in the near future.
