I look at my portfolio website as a chance to test new skills and ideas. Many of my projects have their own life on the web and this site is a way to showcase them. Each project is given a vignette with links to more in depth content, including websites, papers, apps, and games.
I put a lot of TLC into the construction of this site! I'm quite fond of all of the work but Rebug (found under game design), the Space Invade r Generator (found under misc) stand out as favorites. You also might like to explore "The Masses" (also under game design), and Lobby pet (under Misc). Both of these projects are fun, interesting and have a lot of content spread on the web, all the links are consolidated here. Enjoy!!

I've been developing this game’s concept for a number of years. It is a massive multi player Real Time Strategy (RTS) game designed to get people thinking more holistically about the environment. As is common in RTS games, players gather resources to build items and contraptions. Players operate a single type of unit called a bot. It is the nature of these bots and the environment that they are set in that separates the Masses from more traditional RTS game.

Come Out and Play
2009-06-12
Atlantean Adrift was more then just a game it was designed to be an experience. It was designed for the 2009 Come Out and Play Festival held in New York City.
The call for participants read:
A washed-up Folklorist has been waiting for this day his entire life. Through a grape vine of equally strange folks, he discovers that an merman is in trouble and could use his help! In Atlantean Adrift, the Folklorist enlists teams of players to help a lost merman build up the courage to return home. Rejected from Atlantis for a mishap beyond his benevolent control, the merman is depending on you to remind him of why he love Atlantis, and why he must brave the journey home. Give him the moral support he needs! What can we find in our menacing city that can cheer up this adrift creature? Can you indulge in fool hearted optimism by helping fulfill this one merman's wishes? Find out in this once in a lifetime adventure.
The game played out like a performance with participants as actors. The result was a unique experience that allowed players to flex their creativity.

The LobbyPet is an interactive playmate devised to entertain in the monotonous periods of your day. Just like a pet brings comfort when you get home, the LobbyPet comforts and entertains you while you wait for an elevator; stand in line for food, etc.
Your LobbyPet responds to your voice, so he’ll come when you call him. However, he doesn't like it too loud, so don’t yell at him! He may hide at first when you bring over a large group of people, but if they’re nice to him, he may eventually come out to say hi.

The South Side Community Land Trust, a non-profit Rhode Island organization committed to developing farmland in an increasingly urban landscape, was given a fifty acre plot of land located within two miles of the Johnston Landfill. Formerly a dairy farm, their plan was to develop the land for use as a subscription farm, an educational facility, and a shared harvest farm, while utilizing existing farm structures. Rhode Island School Design was asked to help with the design of this farm. A landscape problem by its nature this project was given solely to industrial designers. The problem became less about how the landscape is formed and more about how the different components of the farm interacted and related to each other.
